Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) has published this year's SLC results on Friday.
According to Bishnu Bahadur Dware, Exam Controller, 47.43 percent (192267) of the total 405338 examinees have passed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations under regular category.
Of the total passed students, 21,247 have achieved distinction, 90,176 1st division, 76,482 2nd division while 4,362 3rd division.
Of the total 136,051 students who appeared the exams, 13.80 percent (18,728) have passed the SLC exams under exempted category. Of those passed, two (one girl and one boy) secured distinction, 348 achieved 1st division, 14,413 2nd division and 4,015 3rd division.
Similarly, 5,099 students dropped their exams, while exams of 1,199 withheld, 612 canceled and 83 examinees were expelled under regular category.
As many as 9,200 examinees dropped their exams, 209 and 686 had their exams withheld and cencled respectively while 83 were expelled from the exams hall under exempted category.
Over 574,000 students had appeared in the board exams that were held from March 19 to 29. As many as 405,338 students appeared as regulars whereas 145,183 sat as exempted ones in the exams.
For the first time, the technical subject examinees will receive their results under the new grading system.
Some 32,88 students of technical subjects appeared in the SLC, 2,037 of whom were boys and 1,252 girls.
For the first time in the history of SLC exams, girls outnumbered boys as examinees.
A total of 43.92 percent of examinees had passed the SLC examinations last year. The pass percentage has increased by 3. 35% this year.
Similarly, 41.57 percent of examinees had passed the exams in 2013, while in 2012, 46.6 percent had crossed the Iron Gate.
Although the office had initially predicted a two week's delay in publishing the results due to massive April 25 earthquake, it managed to speed up preparations in the last one month.(source: republica)
