BEd results messed, students in a lurch

KATHMANDU: With their first year exam result unknown, hundreds of second year students of Bachelor of Education (BEd) under Tribhuvan University are on the horns of a dilemma.

The Office of the Controller of Examination had published the first year exam result on November 29 in which hundreds of them were marked absent despite their presence.

The victimised students are at a loss about their result. They are wandering around the OCE to get their result so that they can fill exam forms for the subject they failed. OCE has recently opened the first year exam forms. The exam is scheduled to begin from February 23.

Some of the victims have already filled forms though their result is not certain.

Ram Prasad Dahal, a student of Surkhet Multiple Campus, said, he had been staying in Kathmandu for the past two weeks waiting for the result. “I could not see my number in the result list published in December. The college administration informed me that I was marked absent in Nepali Literature. I was not absent,” said Dahal.

No different is the plight of Deepak Raj Kandel from Salyan Multiple Campus, Dhading.“I was marked absent in Nepali Literature in the BEd first year exam,” said Kandel.

He said TU officials are apathetic to the problems of students. He also alleged that officials were rarely present at work.

However, Exam Controller Daya Man Karmacharya said technical problems were to blame. “Many students filled in the forms late this year. On top of it, the examinee attendance was missing. Therefore, the students suffered,” said the controller.
