NEB notice regarding Grade 11 Exam : Colleges directed not to conduct Grade 11 exams until further notice

Showing concerns over the fears created by the rapidly increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases, the National Examination Board (NEB) has directed colleges across the country not to conduct Grade 11 examinations until further notice. The examination which was scheduled to start from May 3 was affected due to the lockdown imposed by the government.

Given the circumstances created by the pandemic, the government had later decided to let colleges conduct grade 11 examinations on their own.

The decision was taken according to the Education Act of 2018, which mentions that grade 12 exams must be taken by the National Education Board but there is no strict provision regarding conducting Grade 11 examination.

Following the previous notice given by the government, there were rumors that some colleges across the nation were preparing to conduct the examinations within the next month.

However, NEB has issued a notice asking colleges not to conduct Grade 11 examinations until ‘the board issues a proper notice’.

A notice issued by the board reads, “Although the government has not yet decided to reopen educational institutions due to the soaring cases of COVID-19, some schools have made public the program related to Grade 11 examinations. This has created an atmosphere of panic among students and parents. The board requests the responsible institutions to wait until a notice is issued.”
