Purpose of the Position
The Project Officer (Construction) will be based in Kathmandu and act as UNICEF and UNFPA focal point taking overall responsibility under the instructions of the Chief of the Operations of UNICEF and UNFPA for the management and coordination of the construction project.  In this regard the incumbent will gather inputs from all resources within the office and external, and represent UNICEF and UNFPA in all major negotiations and dealings regarding all technical aspects of the project

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
> Advanced University Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or other relevant technical area
> First Level Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or other relevant technical area plus 2 additional years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Advanced University Degree.
> Professional Project Management Certification (PRINCE2® Foundation/Prince2® Practitioner and/or PMP certification) would be considered an asset.
> Minimum 5 years’ experience in Construction Project Management
> Experience of a similar nature with the UN or other international organisation is an asset
> Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory

Technical Knowledge
> Good interpersonal and communication skills
> Excellent writing and presentation skills
> Proven ability to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate effective solutions
> Ability to work productively in a multi-cultural environment
> Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills
> Good ability to convey messages, ideas, concepts in a clear and well-structured way

Purpose of the Position
Under the general guidance of the Chief, Planning & Evaluation, you will be responsible for delivering on evaluation and research intermediate results within the country programme

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
> Advanced university degree in social sciences, demography, development planning, statistics or a related technical field.
> Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in research, programme monitoring and evaluation. Practical experience in community-based research.

Technical Knowledge
> Strong analytical, quantitative and qualitative research skills
> Specialized training in statistics
> Experience and ability to organize and implement training
> Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills
> Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.
> Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization
