The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has published notice for students applying to the common entrance examination for bachelor's level medical education (MECEE-BL 2026) regarding changes in MECEE-BL 2026 application requirements.
Changes in MECEE-BL 2026 application requirements
Nepali citizens who have passed Grade 12 but are under 16 years old can now apply for the common entrance exam using a minor's identification card, provided they fulfill all other qualifications.

MECEE-BL 2026 Application Notice: Medical Education Common Entrance Examination for Bachelor Level
Nepal Government, Medical Education Commission, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, invites
online applications for the selection of candidates in the various health
professional programs run by all Universities, affiliated colleges, and Health
Science Academies throughout Nepal.
Medical Education Commission
has published a notice regarding the Medical Education Common Entrance
Examination for Bachelor Level Programs (MECEE-BL 2026) in medical education
for admission in the following programs:
- MBBS
- BDS
- BSc
Nursing/B.Sc Midwifery, BASLP, B Perfusion Technology
- BAMS, BNS, BSc
MLT, BSc MIT, B Pharm, B Optometry, BPT
- BPH
The online
application portal will be open from 2082 Bhadra 02 (17 August 2025), 10:00 AM
to 2082 Bhadra 22 (7 September 2025), 5:00 PM. Applicants may also apply with
double fee payment from 2082 Bhadra 22 (7 September 2025), 5:00 PM until 2082
Bhadra 29 (14 September 2025), 5:00 PM.
Programs and Minimum Eligibility:
a) MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BSc Midwifery, BASLP, B Perfusion Technology
The Candidates should have passed +2/Proficiency Certificate Level with
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% marks or 2.4 GPA/CGPA,
from a recognized institution.
OR A-Level or equivalent with Physics,
Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA, and obtained
equivalency.
OR Health Science–related Proficiency Certificate/Diploma
(General Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science,
Pharmacy, Radiography, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy) with minimum 50% marks, and
completed +2 equivalency in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum 50%
or 2.4 GPA/CGPA, registered with the concerned council.
b) BAMS, BSc MLT, BSc MIT, BSc Radiotherapy Technology, BPT, BPharm,
B Optometry
The Candidates should have passed +2/Proficiency Certificate Level with
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA.
OR
A-Level or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least
50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA, and obtained equivalency.
OR Proficiency
Certificate/Diploma in Health Sciences (Ayurveda, Medical Lab Technology,
Radiography, Radiotherapy, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Ophthalmic Science) with
minimum 50% marks and registered with the concerned council.
c) BPH
The Candidates should have passed +2/Proficiency Certificate Level with
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least 50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA.
OR
A-Level or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing at least
50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA, and obtained equivalency.
OR Proficiency
Certificate/Diploma in Health Sciences (General Medicine, Medical Lab
Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Nursing,
Radiography, Radiotherapy, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy) with minimum 50% marks and
registered with the concerned council.
d) BNS / BMS
The
Candidates should have passed Nursing Proficiency Certificate Level/ Diploma
with minimum 50% or 2.4 GPA/CGPA, and registered with Nepal Nursing
Council.

Entrance Examination
a. The entrance examination of all the above-mentioned programs will be
written examination and consists of an objective-type questions. The answer
sheet will be based on an OMR system.
b. The duration of the examination
will be three hours, will have a full integer of 200 marks.
c. Each
correct answer will be awarded 1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for
each incorrect answer.
d. To be included in the merit list of the Common
Entrance examination, candidates must score at or above the 50th
percentile.
e. Notwithstanding clause (d), if the number of candidates
appearing in the examination is less than double the number of available seats
in a particular program, then candidates who score 50% or above marks will
still be included in the merit list.
f. The candidates can apply for more
than one program.
Application Fees
- Nepali Applicants:
NPR 4,000/- (excluding service charges for card payments).
- Foreign
Applicants: NPR 8,000/- or equivalent (excluding service charges for card
payments).
Application Deadline:
- Normal Fee
Deadline: 2082 Bhadra 02, 10 AM to 2082 Bhadra 22 up to 5 PM.
- Double
Fee Deadline: 2082 Bhadra 22 5 PM to Bhadra 29 up to 5 PM.
The
available seats for the foreign candidates in the above academic programs will
be upto:
- 8.25% of the seats in Government colleges/Academies
- 33%
of the seats in Private colleges are run by the Nepalese management team.
-
50% of the seats in Private colleges run by Nepalese and foreign management
teams.
