Nursing is the largest, the most diverse, and one of the most respected of all
the health care professions. The necessity of well-trained nurses is rising
worldwide, making it one of the most sought-after jobs among students.
After passing the SEE examination, nursing comes as one of the
most attractive subject for studies among the girls. For many girls, nursing
is the first choice and they want to shape their career in technical field.
Since the past few years, nursing education has been a heartthrob of most of
the Nepalese female students.
After SEE, students interested in
nursing profession can choose between B.Sc Nursing (4 years program) and
Bachelor of Nursing (BN) ( 3 Years Program). Administrative positions held by
BSc Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing graduates such as nursing administrator,
nurse in charge and nursing supervisor, among others, have also attracted
students towards the field.
1. B.Sc Nursing (TU)
B.Sc Nursing of TU is a four-year program that aims at preparing middle
level nursing graduates who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and
attitude competencies required for them to function as efficient care
providers, teachers, and middle level managers in the hospital as well as
community settings.
Eligibility
Passed 10+2 Science or
equivalent (with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) with 50% aggregate in total
marks or CGPA 2.4
OR
Secured the Percentage equivalent to the above
eligibility in regards to the certificate level programs (A-Level) with
different grading systems
OR
Applicants who have passed the Health
Science Proficiency Certificate Level/Diploma (General Medicine, Medical Lab
Technology, Ophthalmic Science, Dental Science, Pharmacy, Ayurveda,
Radiography, Physiotherapy) containing Physics, Chemistry, and Biology With
Certificate of Equivalence to Grade 12 Science program from National
Examination Board
AND
Secured at least 50% aggregate in total marks
both in Diploma and the Examination for equivalence
AND
Registered
in Nepal Health Professional council or Nepal Pharmacy Council or Nepal
Ayurveda Councils per related educational program.

Pass Marks:
In
order to pass the integrated admission process, a minimum of 50 percent marks
should be obtained. There will be negative marking ( - 0.25 each) for wrong
answers.
Admission to BSc Nursing is available through Common
Entrance Examination (CEE) in Nepal which has been initiated by the
Medical Education Commission (MEC).
2. Bachelor of Nursing (BN) (TU)
Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS) program of Tribhuvan University,
prepares nurses for carrying out the role of care provider, manager, educator
and researcher. It is a three -year academic program having four major
tracks.
There are four specialization areas in Bachelor of Nursing
Sciences (BNS):. BNS Community Health Nursing-3yrs, BNS Adult Health
Nursing-3yrs and BNS Child Health Nursing-3yrs and BNS Psychiatric Nursing
-3yrs
Eligibility
Proficiency Certificate Level/
Diploma in Nursing securing at least 50% aggregate in total marks.
AND
Registered in Nepal Nursing Council.
Entrance examination:
The full marks of the Entrance Examination paper is 100 and the
duration of examination is 2 hours. The entrance examination consists of a
single paper with 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) on Nursing Problem
solving (50) and Nursing core subjects (50). One mark is allocated to each
MCQ. Each MCQ will have four options, of which the most appropriate answer is
to be answered. There is no system of negative marking. The pass marks is 50%
(fifty per cent)
Generally, Institutes offers three and half month
course for the entrance preparation of B.Sc. Nursing to those students wishing
to make career in Nursing professions. The entrance preparation course starts
immediately after the 12 board exam when students get time for preparation
while waiting for the results.
