The Embossed number plate is a camera-readable plate that contains a microchip
connected to the vehicle’s GPS system. This makes it effective in terms of
tracking automobiles, preventing vehicle theft, keeping digital records of the
vehicles, and promptly collecting income.
The Department of Transport Management under Ministry of Physical
Infrastructure and Transport, Government of Nepal, is responsible for issuing
embossed number plates.
How to apply for an Embossed Number plate for your vehicle ?
To apply for a new embossed number plate in Nepal, an applicant must
fill out an online form available at official website of the Department of
Transport Management i.e.
https://hsenp.dotm.gov.np/ followed
by a visit to the designated transport office to pay for the service.

The applicant must also provide copies of the
renewed bill book and its payment vouchers, a completed application form, a
payment voucher, two photos, and a photocopy of their citizenship
certificate. One should bring the necessary paperwork if the car was
purchased through a hire purchase plan and is still owned by a financial
institution.
The next step is verifying the application number. After the
application number has been verified, the candidate must go through a
biometric screening at the same office.
Once these steps are
completed, the applicant qualifies for an embossed number plate. The office
will then schedule a date for the number plate installation.
Cost of Embossed number plates in Nepal
For two-wheelers
(Motorcycle & Scooters), the cost of an embossed number plate is Rs 2,500;
for three-wheelers (tempos), Rs 2,900; for light four-wheelers, including
cars, jeeps and vans, Rs 3,200; and for heavy vehicles, it is Rs 3,600.
