The Institute of Science and Technology (IoST),
Dean's Office at Tribhuvan University (TU), Kirtipur, invites applications for
Ph.D. enrollment for the academic year 2082 BS. This announcement is for
candidates aspiring to pursue doctoral research under various Central
Departments of IoST.
The notice, issued on 2082/03/02 BS, includes
the complete schedule and procedures for Ph.D. enrollment. Interested
candidates are requested to contact the respective Central Departments for
additional details.
Application Timeline:
- Application
Period: From Ashadh 15 to the end of Shrawan, 2082 BS.
- Where to Submit:
Respective Central Departments of IoST, TU.

Proposal Defense and Entrance Exam Registration
The
Proposal Defense must be conducted by the respective Central Departments by
Bhadra 20, 2082 BS. Only candidates who successfully pass the Proposal Defense
will proceed to the entrance examination phase. After passing the Proposal
Defense, candidates must submit: Revised Proposal, Entrance Examination Form,
Voucher of NPR 3,000 deposited at Nepal Bank Limited (Account No:
04500100099107000001) and all required documents.
Submission Deadline: By
the end of Bhadra, 2082 BS.

Entrance Examination Structure
The entrance examination will
consist of 100 objective questions.
- 70% from the subject area of the
applicant
- 30% from Research Methodology related to the discipline
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility is as per the Ph.D. Regulation 2023, available at: Ph.D.
Regulation 2023
Minimum Requirements
A) A candidate
must pass entrance exam conducted by IOST, TU.
B) A candidate requires at
least 3.0/4.0 CGPA or equivalent in the Master Level (M.Sc. in respective
discipline or M.A. in Mathematics or Statistics) from TU or any University
recognized by TU to be a full time Ph.D. candidate. No work experience is
required for full time Ph.D. enrolment.
C) Work experience is required
for non-full time Ph. D. enrolment as follows:
a. Candidate with 3/4.0
CGPA in M.Sc. or equivalent must have 2 years work experience. Candidate with
3.3/4.0 CGPA in M.Sc. or equivalent must have 1 year work experience.
b
Candidate passed with distinction or 3.7/4.0 CGPA need not require work
experience.
c. No work experience is required for a candidate with M.Sc.
degree having one publication as first author in Q1 or Q2 ranked SCimago
listed Journal.
D) For interdisciplinary : Candidate must complete 30 CH
( Credit Hour) conversion course of that discipline. These courses will be
recommended by concerned subject committee to the CDRC. Candidate who takes 30
CH course he/she will be eligible to be awarded Ph.D. Degree from that
department.

10. Assurance Letter of Study Leave
from the employer for full time researcher candidate
11. Plagiarism
checking Report according to loST rule.
Special Note for TU Faculty:
Tribhuvan University teaching staff applying as full-time researchers
shall obtain prior approval from the Office of the Rector, Coordination
Division. For this, applicants are requested to contact the Coordination
Division. Non-TU employees must submit a No Objection Letter from their
employer.
