Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is the capital city of Nepal and serves as
the country's political, cultural, and economic hub. As one of the largest
urban centers in Nepal, KMC plays a pivotal role in shaping the nation's
development and progress. Situated in the Kathmandu Valley, KMC is renowned
for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and vibrant
atmosphere.
The education department of the Kathmandu Metropolitan
City announces the opening for 140 city volunteers. This initiative is part of
the Book Free Friday Program aimed to integrate practical learning of the
students through experiential learning with fun concepts, every Friday. Each
selected volunteer will be assigned to a school where they will be mainly
engaged with eco-club students (30-50 members of the BABA “Baalbalika Tathaa
Batawarran” sub-group) to enhance the learning experiences of the students in
environmental stewardship through their active engagement.
Position and Requirements: 140 City Volunteers
- बाबा स्वयंसेवक (Environment, WASH and Arts): 100
- संयुबा स्वयंसेवक (Culture, Heritage, Arts & Tourism): 40

Educational Qualification: At least Bachelor running in environmental studies,
public health, Sociology, Psychology, Social Works, Development Studies,
Culture and History, Tourism and Hotel Management etc.

Duration: Minimum of 6 months.
Additional Criteria:
> Priority: Residents of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and individuals
with prior volunteering experience will be given preference

Selection Process: Candidates will be shortlisted and interviewed, with the
final list being published after interviews
> Age Limit: Applicants
must be above 18 and less than 35 years old on the last day of submission
Note:
Selected volunteers should compulsorily attend training sessions given by
KMC
Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to commit two days a
week (Thursday & Friday), contributing to the Book Free Friday Programs
from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (4 hours/day)

Responsibilities:
The selected city volunteers will be assigned to certain schools in
Kathmandu Metropolitan City. After receiving training from the experts,
volunteers will go to the assigned school every Friday and be engaged with the
eco club to conduct different modules, trainings, and programs. Volunteers are
also responsible for acting as a focal person for the school and documenting
the activities done under their leadership.
