The National Examination Board on Thursday published the results of the
Secondary Education Examination held from March 25th to April 9th, 2024. Of
the 464,785 students who took the 10th grade final examination, 47.86 percent
received different grades and qualified for further study. The remaining
242,092 students (52.14 percent) received no grades and were classified as
non-graded. A total of 186 students received a GPA of 4.
This year's exams followed the new syllabus, and the results has been
published using the new grading system.To be eligible for higher education
under the new system, each SEE student must score at least 35% on theoretical
exams. Students who do not pass the theoretical exams will be ineligible to
enroll in class 11, and their results will be non-graded. Previously, students
received grades if they earned at least 35 points on both theoretical and
practical exams. Theoretical and practical exams has been graded
separately.
The new curriculum has implemented a system in which each subject,
including mathematics, will have a 25-mark practical exam and a 75-mark
theoretical exam. The practical exams are administered by the schools, and the
results are sent to the NEB board.

Grading System
This year, the exams were conducted
based on the new syllabus, and the results have been published under the new
grading system.Under the new system, each SEE student must score at least 35
percent mark in the theoretical exams to qualify for higher studies. Students
failing to secure the needed marks in theoretical exams will not be eligible
to enrol in class 11 and will receive their results in the non-graded
category.
Previously, students received grades if they scored at
least 35 marks combined from theoretical and practical exams. From now on,
there will be separate grading for theoretical and practical exams. The new
curriculum has introduced a system where each subject, including mathematics,
will have a 25-mark practical exam and a 75-mark theoretical exam. Students
have to secure a 27-mark under the theoretical exam. The practical exams are
conducted by the schools themselves, and the obtained marks are sent to the
board.
Supplementary Examination
Students who were
classified as non-graded in up to two subjects will be permitted to attend
grade increment examinations administered by the board after one month. The
board stated that the students would be permitted to sit for exams in the only
subjects for which they had received no grade. According to the board,
students who received non-grades in more than two subjects will be able to
take the relevant subject exams the following year. According to the board,
such students can take the annual examination for the next three years. After
that, they must take exams in all subjects.
Rechecking and Revaluation of Answer Sheet
Students who are dissatisfied with their published results can request that
their answer sheets be rechecked and reevaluated. The rechecking application
can be submitted online through the website. After the results are published,
detailed information and instructions will be available on the National
Examination Board, SEE, and National Examination Board Central Office
websites.
Corrections to age, name, and surname
If
there are any discrepancies in a student's age, name, or surname, corrections
can be made within five years of the results being published using the
admission card or a decision from the concerned Chief District Officer if the
admission card also contains discrepancies. Applications for corrections
should be submitted accordingly.
