OET is available for 12 different areas of the healthcare professions: dentistry, dietetics, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, podiatry, radiography, speech pathology, and veterinary science. It provides a reliable and valid assessment of all four language skills such as listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
OET is graded on a scale of 0-500 for each of the four sections such as Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking (also known as subtests). Most recognizing boards and councils require candidates to score at least 350 in each of the four sub-tests. It takes approximately three hours for the written tests, and 20 minutes for the speaking test. Candidates must be available for a full day as speaking sub-test can be allocated anywhere between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. OET certificates are valid for two years.
The OET course duration and fees varies from Institute to Institute. Generally, the duration of OET course is 5 to 6 weeks and the fees ranges from Rs. 25000/- to Rs. 35000/-. Also, Mock tests are conducted at regular intervals to help candidate prepare for the real OET exam.
