The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test to
measure the English Language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll
in English speaking universities. The test is accepted by many
English-speaking academic and professional institutions all over the world.
Students who are planning to study in a university abroad as well as those
students who wish to apply for scholarship often take this test.
The
TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) test is scored on a scale of 0 to 120
points. A scaled score of 0 to 30 is assigned to each of the four
sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing). The overall score is
calculated by adding the scaled scores from the four sections. It takes four
hours to complete the test which is relatively longer compared to other tests.
TOEFL score is valid for 2 years.
The TOEFL course duration and fees varies from institute to institute. Generally, the duration of TOEFL course is 5 to 6 weeks and the fees ranges from Rs. 9000/- to Rs. 12000/-. Also, Institutes usually conduct TOEFL mock test at regular intervals to assess candidate’s performance.
