The University of Oregon is a comprehensive research university that serves
its students and the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world through the
creation and transfer of knowledge in the liberal arts, the natural and
social sciences, and the professions. It is the Association of American
Universities' flagship institution of the Oregon University System.
University of Oregon offers financial aid for international students at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels. Each year the University of Oregon
awards more than $1 million in financial aid and scholarships to
international students.
Given below are some of financial aid and scholarship opportunities for
international students.
GENERAL UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
General University Scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic
achievement, and selection is highly competitive. They are made possible by
the generous contributions of many individuals to the University of Oregon.

Awards vary between $1000 - $3600. This scholarship is awarded for one year
only.

Academic merit varies and will be determined on a case by case basis.
AUTOMATIC CONSIDERATION
UO Excellence Scholarship: $15,000 per year*
The UO Excellence Scholarship awards a limited number of out-of-state top
scholars $60,000 over four years - $15,000 per year. The UO Excellence
Scholarship can be combined with other UO scholarships, including Diversity
Excellence and General University Scholarships. It cannot be combined with
the Stamps Scholarship, Summit Scholarship or the Apex Scholarship. Students
enrolled in five-year degree programs will receive the UO Excellence
Scholarship for a fifth year. These degrees include BLA (Landscape
Architecture), BIARC (Interior Architecture), and BARCH (Architecture).
Summit Scholarship:
The Summit Scholarship awards Oregon top scholars $20,000 over four years -
$5,000 per year. Due to the difference in tuition, out-of-state top scholars
will receive $40,000 over four years - $10,000 per year. The Summit
Scholarship can be combined with other UO scholarships, including the
Presidential, Diversity Excellence, and General University Scholarships.
Summit Scholarships may not be combined with the Apex Scholarship or UO
Excellence Scholarship. Students enrolled in five-year degree programs will
receive the Summit Scholarship for a fifth year. These degrees include BLA
(Landscape Architecture), BIARC (Interior Architecture), and BARCH
(Architecture).
Apex Scholarship:
The Apex Scholarship awards Oregon residents $8,000 total - $2,000 per year
for four years. Due to the difference in tuition, out-of-state residents
will receive $30,000 total - $7,500 per year for four years. The Apex
Scholarship can be combined with other UO scholarships, including the
Presidential, Diversity Excellence, and General University Scholarships. The
Apex Scholarship may not be combined with the Summit Scholarship or the UO
Excellence Scholarship. Students enrolled in five-year degree programs will
receive the Apex Scholarship for a fifth year. These degrees include BLA
(Landscape Architecture), BIARC (Interior Architecture), and BARCH
(Architecture).
WORK-STUDY
International Student Work-Study Program: $1,000 USD to $4,500 USD per year
The work-study program grants more than 50 work-study awards, ranging from
$1,000–$4,500 each year, to eligible international students with financial
need. Students who receive these awards can compete for on-campus work-study
jobs during the academic year. Students are not guaranteed on-campus jobs,
but opportunities for on-campus employment will increase.
International Affairs Endowed Scholarships
The UO Office of International Affairs grants several competitive cash-based
scholarships each year to international students who demonstrate financial
need and academic merit.
FOR NEPAL
Helen and Barney Wood Nepalese Student Scholarship:
Established by Dr. Wood, a former UO professor of education, one scholarship
of approximately $4,000 may be awarded each academic year to a student from
Nepal. New and continuing students from Nepal may apply. Students must also
be awarded a tuition remission scholarship from UO to qualify.
Nepali Student Scholarship:
This scholarship awards a maximum of $30,000 in tuition annually to one top
student from Nepal. Scholarships apply to tuition only and are automatically
renewed annually up to the completion of one degree, subject to the
scholarship terms and conditions. The Nepali Student Scholarship is awarded
to a student in a field of study that enables the student to return home and
contribute to the reconstruction needs of Nepal. The award is intended to
help educate future leaders who can make positive differences in their home
country.
Deadline:
Apply for Admission to UO by January 15. All admission application materials
must be received by the Office of Admissions by February 15.
