How to apply for 2025 Diversity Visa (DV) Program ?

The American Embassy in Kathmandu has announced that the application process for the 2025 DV program will begin on Wednesday, 4 October 2023. The application window for the DV program opened at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday and will remain open until 10:45 p.m. on November 7.

There is no fee for submitting a DV application, and the embassy strongly discourages the use of consultants. They instead advise seeking assistance from trusted family members, friends, or individuals. Regardless of the level of assistance provided, applicants are reminded that they are solely responsible for their applications.

The embassy underscores the importance of listing one's spouse and all unmarried children under 21 years of age at the time of application. Failure to include these details will result in the application being considered invalid.

Applicants are required to submit a recent photograph and are permitted only one application. The use of a photo from the previous year's DV application will lead to disqualification. The embassy emphasizes strict adherence to photo rules and cautions against wearing glasses in the photos.

Previously, applicants were required to have a passport while filling out the DV application, but this requirement has been lifted.

The State Department will make 55,000 green cards available to foreign citizens for the fiscal year 2025.The DV program gives foreigners from countries, including Nepal that do not send many immigrants to the United States the chance to receive a green card. The Department of State annually administers the statutorily created Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.
